ISWinT 2019: The ten-day week started

The theme of this year's edition - "Learn today, change tomorrow"

The festive hall of the "Ion Vidu" High School of Music in Timișoara hosted on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, the festive opening of the 26th edition of the ISWinT Festival (International Student Week in Timisoara), the largest project organized by the Student League from the Faculty of Automation and Computers (Liga AC) of Politehnica University Timisoara, a project under the patronage of the European Parliament, the Government of Romania and the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO. During this project, Timisoara hosted, for 10 days, over 130 students from all over the world.

The event was attended, along with the students, by the deputy mayor of Timișoara, Dan Diaconu, former president of Liga AC, Simona Neumann, CEO of the Timișoara 2021 Association - European cultural capital, assoc. prof. eng. Florin Drăgan, PhD, vice-rector of Politehnica University Timisoara, the trainers of the workshops that took place during the festival.

The theme of this year's edition was "Learn today, change tomorrow", whereby students were encouraged to get involved in social movements, starting a change in the countries they come from.

Foreign students, from countries from all continents such as China, Afghanistan, Italy, Russia, Tunisia and many others, participated in the 8 workshops prepared by Liga AC students, based on the European Youth Goals.

In the educational workshops, based on topics such as social inclusion, education or human rights, young people had the opportunity to learn new things. ISWinT also contributed to the agenda of the future European Cultural Capital 2021 through activities open to the Timisoara public such as Parada, Joel Benson Concert or COOLtural Day.

Of the events with impact at the level of the whole city we mention the Parade with the theme "Inclusive Societies", which started on July 27, from the Student Complex, and ended in the Union Square. The end of the evening was marked by the concert held by Joel Benson and the Mixtapes.

The largest open event, COOLtural Day, took place on July 28, in Freedom Square. As the title suggests, the day was dedicated to culture, the program combining activities from various cultural fields, including a new form of theater, called sensory theater, music, pyrogravure, painting, photography exhibition and more.
