International recognition for a UPT professor

Politehnica University Timișoara has a new reason to be proud! Professor Lăcrămioara Stoicu-Tivadar, Ph.D., who teaches at the Faculty of Automation and Computers was chosen as a member of The International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics (IAHSI), a prestigious international organization headquartered in Switzerland. As is customary, every new IAHSI nomination must come from two titular members and be chosen by the Academy plenum.

The International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics – IAHSI was founded in 2017 under the aegis of IMIA – The International Medical Informatics Association as a part of it and is similar to national science academies. The organization brings together specialists from all over the world with globally-recognized contributions to medical informatics. The Academy offers expert advice to government and non-government organizations and has the purpose to promote knowledge and best practice dissemination, and to encourage global collaboration and resource and expertise exchange.

This is a new international acknowledgement of professor Stoicu-Tivadar’s activity after she had become vice president of the International Medical Informatics Association – IMIA at the end of last year.

Professor Lăcrămioara Stoicu-Tivadar, Ph.D., has previously been the president of the European Federation for Medical Informatics – EFMI for a two-year mandate (2018-2020), receiving the great girdle of EFMI presidents in an impressive ceremony. The festivity took place on October 16, 2018, at the MIE-STC International Conference in Zagreb, Croatia. The EFMI president automatically becomes the IMIA vice president for a two-year mandate, at the end of the presidential mandate.
