Politehnica University Timișoara has concluded a new international collaboration agreement, this time with Ioannina University, Greece. Recently, the Greek higher education institution has incorporated several technical and engineering faculties, and the request for cooperation with UPT comes as a result of the prestige enjoyed by Politehnica University Timișoara on a regional level as well as the international recognition of some professors, who carry out research projects at the highest level.
The Cooperation Agreement, signed on 15 November 2018 by the Rector of Ioannina University, prof. eng. Triantafyllos Almpanis, PhD, and the Rector of Politehnica University Timisoara, prof. eng. Viorel-Aurel Şerban, PhD, establishes the general framework of collaboration on educational and scientific research, considering that in both universities the engineering component is the majority.
Cooperation has expanded at faculty level and involves student and teacher exchanges both within Erasmus+ and through bilateral agreements, academic exchanges, joint research projects, participation in conferences and symposia organized in the two institutions. The agreement also concerns the possibility of equalizing educational standards, diplomas and qualifications, but also the reciprocal promotion of bachelor, master and PhD offers.
