The VisionX team made up of four students from the Faculty of Automation and Computer Science of the Politechnica University of Timişoara (Ştefan Iarca, Bogdan Bercean, Cristian Avramescu, Andrei Tenescu), assisted by Assist.Eng Sebastian Fuicu Ph.D. won the first place and the great award of the Big Idea Challenge competition, 2018 edition, organized by Microsoft. The result is also meritorious in light of the fact that hundreds of teams from over 40 countries have been registered.

In the Big Idea Challenge, competitors have "sold out" their ideas, the jury has chosen the most exciting and awarded them with ($ 3,000 for first place, $ 2,000 for second and $ 1,000 for third).

XVision is a system designed to automatically detect anomalies and diseases encountered anywhere in the human body. With radiologist-level accuracy, XVision analyzes common medical X-ray images with the help of Azure Machine Learning and Azure Functions. The project will be able to provide relevant information to people in deficient areas in radiology analysis staff and is also a support system for experts.

Practically, the system created by UPT students analyzes the radiographs with artificial intelligence, compares them with about 200,000 found in the database, and based on an algorithm created by the VisionX team puts the diagnosis.

The team is now working on the project, which will be presented at Imagine Cup Global Competition 2018, also organized by Microsoft, with $ 100,000 awards. Until May, the draft for the national stage of the competition must be sent.

We wish them good luck!
