The management of Politehnica University Timisoara received on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, the visit of the new ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Romania, His Excellency Mr. Kim Yong Ho, who came with Mr. Ioan Coriolan Gârboni, the director of the Banat Philharmonic and the honorary consul of the Republic of Korea in Timisoara.
The guests wished to hold discussions with UPT management on topics of academic cooperation. More specifically, the ambassador of the Republic of Korea presented the intention of several technical universities in the country that he represents to collaborate with Politehnica University Timisoara on all academic levels, bachelor's, master's, doctoral, research, exchanges of teaching staff and students. The Republic of Korea wants to boost cooperation relations with the universities of Timisoara in general, the city being known and appreciated for its multiculturalism, and with UPT in particular, given the technological and industrial development that characterizes both regions.
The guests were received by the Rector of UPT, Prof. eng. Viorel-Aurel Șerban, PhD, and two of the vice-rectors of the institution, Prof. eng. Marius Oteșteanu, PhD, and Prof. eng. Daniel Dan, PhD. Together, they visited the Pro Memoria hall, where the paintings of the UPT rectors, from the establishment up to the present time, as well as documents attesting the history and tradition of the Timisoara Polytechnic, are on display.
The representatives of the management of Politehnica University Timisoara presented to the guests the offer of study programs in English emphasizing that a memorandum of cooperation has already been signed with Chonbuk National University of Korea, an event that took place at the headquarters of the Romanian Academy, the Timisoara branch, but the institution is open to new collaborations on academic lines.
