In the spirit in which the Timișoara University Alliance was created, a first step was taken by submitting for financing the project InnoBusiness Center - Integrated Multidisciplinary Center for research, development and innovation - from lab to market, which entails the creation of a research-development-Innovation (RDI) platform to integrate several areas of smart specialization, namely the construction of a center at the intersection of business market, applied research and technology transfer, in order to support Romanian and international enterprises to increase and mature their capacity to innovate. The project was started with the participation of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Banat "King Mihai I of Romania", Politehnica University Timisoara and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Victor Babeș".

More precisely, we want to build a research-development-innovation platform, with an area of 7200 sqm, composed of four modular pavilions of 800 sqm each and a central pavilion of 4000 sqm for a business and conference center, as well as the endowment of the five buildings with new technologies and equipment, depending on the field of intelligent specialization intended.

The project is coordinated by the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Banat "King Mihai I of Romania", which will provide the necessary land, with an area of 9 ha. Partners in the project are Politehnica University Timisoara and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Victor Babes". Each of the universities will bring its expertise and specialists for the major fields of research-development-innovation that will be promoted: InnoFood, BioImpact, BioTech, InnoPharma.

"We believe in this partnership and we believe in this common construction in the multidisciplinary field of the 3 universities", said prof. Cosmin Alin Popescu, Ph.D., rector of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Banat "King Mihai I of Romania".

The rector of Politehnica University Timișoara, associate professor eng. Florin Dragan, Ph.D., added that "The ATU Alliance starts the first year with a major project involving 3 universities out of 4. I am convinced that in this project technology, artificial intelligence or robotics will show their full applicability in fields such as medicine or agronomy. Our universities are thus trying to anticipate the future.”

"It is the first major project in which three universities within the ATU Alliance have identified common points of research and innovation in current fields of interest", added prof. Octavian Cretu, Ph.D., rector of the "Victor Babeș" University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
