Novel awards ceremony at Central Library of UPT

the most active readers in the first semester

The Politehnica University Timişoara and the UPT’s Central Library arranged an awards ceremony for the most active readers in the first semester and an exhibition of portrets made by the well-known artist from Timisoara, Zoltan Vamos.

The most hard-working and devoted users of the UPT’s Central Library are Paul Ștefănescu, third year student at Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technologies of UPT and Netanel Figueras, sixth year student at University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timisoara. They were both awarded and congratulated by Agneta-Elisabeta Lovasz, EngD, director of CLUPT and Professor Florin Drăgan, EngD, pro-rector of UPT.

The event proceeded with a novel exhibition of the renowned illustrator and cartoonist Zoltan Vamos. He portrayed with his hard to confuse style a number of local culture people, writers, publicists, journalists, radio people or fine artists. Some of the personalities on the cymas were in the room. Art critic Gabriel Kelemen drew the attention on the hard work of a graphic designer in front of a white sheet. He sees in Zoltan Vamos a great power of concentration and a tremendous power of synthesis of human features which brings out the character of the portrayed person outside the lines of pencil or ink. The artist, awarded at countless national and international shows, has revealed that he is currently preparing a new collection, but this time only with oil icons.

The event that took place at the Central Library of Politehnica University Timişoara is part of the efforts made by the institution to promote the study, reading, but also to open up to the external environment, to promote the act of culture.

In addition to traditional services, the UPT’s Central Library, one of the most modern in the whole country, also offers an IT infrastructure, so it is not a coincidence the massive amount of students, around 1.000-1.500 crossing every day the threshold of the institute.
