Petru Andea, State Secretary at the Ministry of National Education, prof. dr. eng. Claudia Popescu, president of CNFIS.
The possibilities of collaboration between ARUT and TU Austria were analyzed, the proposals related to the Romanian technical higher education system were evaluated 11 years after the implementation of the Bologna cycle (duration of the programs, license areas, specializations / master programs, doctoral studies) as well as ARUT projects in the field of research and mobility of students and teachers.
The meeting established the partnership between the Association of Technological Universities of Austria (TU-Austria) and the Romanian Alliance of Technical Universities (ARUT), and a collaboration agreement - Memorandum of Understanding – will be signed, which will specify the directions of collaboration in the field of education and research between the two associative structures.
Considering the complexity of the problems regarding the restructuring of the Romanian higher education, ARUT members decided to set up a working commission to analyze in detail all the issues involved in this process.
Until the ARUT meeting in Bucharest in October, the Commission set up will present a project for restructuring the engineering study cycles which will be firstly discussed with representatives of the economic environment, professional associations, universities with a significant technical component in the country and abroad.
The information package on the inter-university research grants within ARUT has been approved. The competition for young people, teachers and researchers from the five technical universities will be launched on May 15, 2018, and the results will be released on September 20, 2018. The amount allocated is about 600,000 euros.
It was agreed that the Directors of Doctoral Studies Councils from the ARUT member universities should develop a proposal to assess the quality of doctoral studies with relevant and measurable quality indicators in line with good practice both in Romania and from prestigious technical universities in which will be presented at the ARUT meeting in October 2018.
