Two teams of students from Politehnica University Timișoara participated, at the end of October, at the 2019 International Hard & Soft Student Competition in Novi Sad, Serbia, where they climbed to the top of the podium. The competition took place at the Faculty of Technical Sciences of Novi Sad, and the final of the competition at the Central Building of the University of Novi Sad.
Politehnica University Timisoara participated with a team from the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technologies and one from the Faculty of Automation and Computers.
The teams had to devise an algorithm that, based on an audio output signal from a computer or mobile phone, would recognize the meaning of a sentence. After recognizing the meaning of the sentence it was necessary to send the right word to an IoT platform, and subsequently, from the IoT platform, the corresponding symbol had to be sent to a multimedia card.
At the end of the competition, the representatives of the UPT were ranked on the 1st and 3rd places, as follows: the team of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technologies, composed of Fabian Butean, Valentin Tîrziu, Elisei Ilieș and Pavel Sergiu, coordinated by Szilard Bularka and Septimiu Mischie, ranked first, and the team of the Faculty of Automation and Computers, consisting of Adrian Ionuț Țucudean, Adrian George Borsa, Liviu Aniel Alexa and Andrei Cristian Mătrăguna, was ranked third.
