UPT extends its collaboration with Serbia

Politehnica University Timisoara is an important landmark of Romania-Serbia cross-border cooperation, through the projects and the professional exchanges carried out.

Wednesday, December 11, 2019, in the Board Room of the UPT Rectorate, the signing ceremony of the cooperation protocol between Politehnica University Timisoara and the Institute of Mines and Metallurgy in Bor took place, this being the ninth such agreement signed by Politehnica University Timișoara with higher education and research institutions in Serbia.

In addition to the representatives of the management of the two institutions, the general consul of the Republic of Serbia in Timisoara, Mr. Vladan Tadic, was also present, who emphasized the importance of such agreements, not only in terms of the concrete results of the projects carried out, but also through the established relationships between people and between countries.

The main aim of the project is to create a research and education network in the field of environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources, the main areas being affected by mining activities, especially heavy metal and arsenic pollution.

The new protocol extends the area of bilateral contacts that Politehnica University Timisoara has with educational and research institutions in Serbia, thus contributing to the free movement of scientific ideas and innovation, to the identification of new technical solutions, designed to support the creation of cross-border networks, to support sustainable development in the two countries.

The collaboration with the Institute of Mines and Metallurgy in Bor is initiated via the RORS-308 cross-border project, within the Interreg-IPA Program for Romania-Serbia Cross-Border Cooperation.

Other cooperation agreements are signed by Politehnica University Timisoara with higher education institutions in Belgrade, Kraguevać, Niš and Novi Sad.
