Politehnica University Timisoara strengthens its position as a higher education institution at regional and international level, by establishing new partnerships with universities in Serbia.
After 1989, by breaking down the barriers imposed by the communist regime, Politehnica University Timisoara resumed international collaborations, and among the first collaborations were those with higher education institutions in Serbia. The first contacts have been established since 1993, initially between teachers, and subsequently between departments, faculties, over time being made numerous reciprocal visits, student exchanges, projects in partnership.
The current management of Politehnica University Timisoara has decided to institutionalize these partnerships, by entering into bilateral cooperation agreements with the major universities in the neighboring country, which will allow the extension of relations.
In this context, a delegation of the UPT, led by the rector of the institution, Prof. eng. Viorel-Aurel Șerban, PhD, of which they were also part of the associate professor Florin Drăgan, PhD, Vice-Rector, and Associate Professor eng. Marian Greconici, PhD, in charge of the UPT relationship with higher education institutions in Serbia, paid a visit to the University of Kragujevac, where it was received by its rector, prof. Nenad Filipovic, PhD.
The discussions aimed at developing collaborative relationships, especially on the research line, by establishing common themes, especially since the University of Kragujevac, a multidisciplinary university, has in its structure also a Faculty of Technical Sciences, which holds a significant weight, even and the rector of the institution from within it. On this occasion the partners from Serbia were sent the invitation to visit, in turn, the Timisoara Polytechnic, where the collaboration partnership will be finalized and signed.
