Ekaterina Prasolova-Førland - Professor in the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) - was invited on Thursday, September 12, 2019, to the eLearning Center ( CeL ) at Politehnica University Timisoara, where she held a presentation on the ways of integrating VR (virtual reality) in education.
Prof. Prasolova-Førland has been working with virtual educational worlds and immersive technologies since 2002, having over 100 publications in the field. She is the founder of Women in VR / AR Norway, a member of the XR Norway board and is frequently invited as a speaker or interviewed on immersive technologies for education and training.
She has been involved in developing virtual reality educational simulations for a wide range of recipients, from the aquatic agricultural industry to the Norwegian Armed Forces. Ekaterina Prasolova-Førland founded and runs the Research Center for Immersive Innovative Technologies for Education (IMTEL) and the VR / AR laboratory (virtual and augmented reality) - IMTELlab.
The IMTEL laboratory, coordinated by Prof. Prasolova-Førland, has managed projects dedicated to the introduction of certain trades in career centers dedicated to the fishing, oil and unconventional energies, learning of various medical skills and games dedicated to raising awareness of the dangers and effects of climate change.
Prof. Ekaterina Prasolova-Førland is also involved in a number of projects related to the application of immersive technologies in STEM education, climate change awareness, professional training, medicine and therapy, career guidance, collaborative work, emergency management and other fields.
