The students from the Faculty of Architecture and City Planning of Politehnica University Timisoara, who are in the first year of the master's degree in the specialization "Trends, materials and new technologies in interior architecture", in the Design discipline (semester II), faced a challenge: the arrangement of a Michelin three-star restaurant.
The hypothetical scenario considered proposed the establishment of a luxury restaurant in a historical building in the city of Avignon, which actually exists. The restaurant will be co-financed by two new stars of French gastronomy, fresh recipients of the third Michelin star, and the Christian Lacroix Fashion House. Each project had to fit in a budget of one million euros, so that the students could unleash their imagination.
The marketing strategy envisaged the creation of a niche restaurant, with the quality standards characteristic of Michelin three-star restaurants and which would address a select / international clientele segment, mainly made up of professionals and theater-passionate people between 40 and 65 years old, clients who appreciate French / Provence culture, avant-garde theater and fine cuisine / haute cuisine.
The concept of the interior design project intertwined several themes:
The idea was to create an elegant, refined and personalized interior, with contemporary notes, whose name would be "Lou Cantagril" (Crickets singing, in the Provencal).
The projects made by the students, coordinated by architect eng. Mihai Muțiu, PhD and architect Cristina Povian, PhD, were gathered in an exhibition whose opening took place on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at the Central Library of Politehnica University Timisoara.
