webinars dedicated to the change of and capitalization on the potential of education, science and technology

Over 1200 teachers, students and people interested in science, education and technology from Romania, but also from abroad, participated in the first two free webinars in the series #construimimpreuna organized by Politehnica University Timisoara to support the educational and scientific community from Romania and to offer practice-oriented ideas, combining education and technology, best practices and resources, information about innovation in technology and science.

Hosted and moderated by the Politehnica University Timișoara eLearning Center team, the series includes 10 webinars given by guests from various universities and important institutions in Romania and Europe, along with many experienced professionals in open learning, online and digital and is open to all stakeholders from the educational process and lovers of education, science and technology.


Context – Build Together Webinars

Life and education in the pandemic continue and, after almost two years of accumulated experience, of offering numerous researches and analyzes, of reflecting on the steps taken in the 30 Online Together webinars dedicated to the transition from traditional to online education, Politehnica University Timișoara, through the e-Learning Center launched a new series of webinars for providing new information, ideas, innovative analyses and stimulating the community to model education and science for today and tomorrow.

The Build Together webinars are organized in collaboration by IEEE Romania, the Romanian Alliance of Technical Universities (ARUT), the EDEN Europe Association and Politehnica University Timișoara, every week having guests from other universities and institutions from Romania and Europe. They are scheduled for every Wednesday from 18:00.


More than 1200 participants from the university, pre-university and private sectors

Participation is free and is done by accessing the registration links provided each week on the official website of CeL - https://www.elearning.upt.ro. Participants receive an Open Badge "Build Together" certificate for each webinar they attend.

The first 2 webinars have already seen over 1200 participants and addressed topics dedicated to change and reflection on the current status-quo in education and science in post-pandemic times, on fully exploiting the potential of new digital educational models discovered and experienced recently, as well as topics dedicated to promoting full and equal access to science and participation in science for women and girls.


#buildtogether Webinar 1: What does digital transformation mean for  pre-university education?

The first webinar in this series brought up the need for digital skills training, the use of digital tools in pre-university teaching, according to the Strategy on the digitization of education in Romania, analyzing the Education and Training Monitor 2021.

Experts from the Timiș County School Inspectorate – Prof. Dr. Marin Popescu, Ph.D., general school inspector, Prof. Cosmin Hogea, deputy general school inspector, Politehnica University Timișoara - Associate Professor Dr. Eng. Florin Dragan, Ph.D., rector of the university and the Teaching Staff House - Prof. Patricia Pisano, director of the Timiș Teaching Staff House, shared experiences and applied solutions for digital education, but especially solutions for achieving educational transformation in the post-pandemic pre-university environment. The session had been moderated by Dr. Eng. Diana Andone, Ph.D. - director of the e-Learning Center, Politehnica University Timisoara.

#buildtogether Webinar 2: The International Day of Women and Girls in STEM

The Build Together event on the International Day for the Recognition of the Critical Role of Women and Girls in Science and Technology focused on the work and achievements of girls and women scientists who contribute to innovation and progress in science and technology, while encouraging the next generation of young women and girls to pursue careers in STEM.

Anca Drăghici, Ph.D., the Faculty of Management in Production and Transportation, Politehnica University Timișoara, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Loredana-Mihaela Stanciu, Ph.D., Vice Dean of the Faculty of Automation and Computers, Politehnica University Timisoara, Eng. Alina Racataian, Yazaki Component Technology Timisoara, Romania, Eng. Anca-Ioana Dărăbuț, master student at the Biomedical Engineering Specialization, the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunication and Information Technology, Politehnica University Timișoara, and Diana Poenaru, student of Grigore Moisil Theoretical High School Timisoara, BioCoderDojo Timișoara - offered the participants the necessary inspiration and courage to pursue the dream and perseverance needed in a successful career, regardless of the chosen field, in a session moderated by Dr. Eng. Diana Andone, Ph.D. - director of the e-Learning Center, Politehnica University Timisoara.

Prof. Dr. Eng. Florin Dragan, Ph.D., rector of Politehnica University Timisoara, Dr. Cosmin Cioranu - EBSI4RO project coordinator, Executive Unit for Higher Education Financing, Research, Development and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Eng. Carmen Holotescu, Ph.D., member of the EBSI4RO team, Politehnica University Timișoara University and Ph.D. student Victor Holotescu - EBSI4RO Team, Politehnica University Timișoara, the session being moderated by Prof. Dr. Eng. Radu Vasiu, Ph.D., EBSI4RO project coordinator – Politehnica University Timișoara.


„Blockchain is the future. This technology is already transforming our society”

In this new webinar from the "Building Together" series, you will meet the team and activities of the innovative European project "EBSI4RO: Connecting Romania through Blockchain", run in partnership by UEFISCDI and UPT, which will implement and pilot a system that will mint university diplomas on EBSI (integrated with the Unified Matriculation Register - RMU) and micro-credits.

Furthermore, UEFISCDI and UPT will host a series of MOOCs for universities, institutions and companies for familiarization with Blockchain technology and Blockchain application development for public and private services leveraging EBSI.
