Diana Andone, the director of CeL, received the EDEN Senior Fellow Award
Dr. eng. Diana Andone, Ph.D., the director of the eLearning Center of Politehnica University Timișoara received the EDEN Senior Fellow Award, one of the most prestigious annual awards of the EDEN community, in recognition of her contribution to the growth of open, distance learning and e-learning in Europe and for her commitment and valuable support for the evolution and progress of EDEN. The prize was awarded on Monday, June 21, 2021, by EDEN president Sandra Kučina Softić during the opening ceremony of the annual virtual conference EDEN 2021, hosted by UNED - Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, Madrid.
In the official announcement issued by EDEN it is stated that: “In the decades of her affiliation with EDEN in various roles, she (Editor’s Note: Diana Andone) enriched our conferences with multiple papers, workshops, webinars, and classes […] She was the driving force behind the modernization of the Association’s communications, both through implementing cutting-edge technologies, and through building a modern information feeds system. As the host if EDEN Webinars during COVID and the first annual virtual EDEN conference, via UPT, she contributed to the laying the ground work for setting up a new culture of online and virtual event organization within EDEN.”
“Thank you very much, Sandra, and thanks to EDEN and the European Committee for granting me this award. I am grateful and humble for this accomplishment. My first encounter with EDEN was in 1996, so it has been a long time since I had been with EDEN to conferences, in Budapest, Granada, and all over Europe. I must thank António (Teixera), Airina (Volungevičienė) și Sandra – the three presidents I served under as a member of the executive committee and vice-president, especially the latest, and to the entire executive committee, the members, and the NAP committee, that was very supportive of all the crazy actions, if I can say so, and supported all the ideas I came up with. They helped me, with the extraordinary support of the Secretariat, which was truly great, and I am delighted to be have been able to accomplish these things. I will be around EDEN for a long time. Dr. eng. Diana Andone, Ph.D. is the director of the e-Learning Center within Politehnica University Timisoara, responsible for planning and implementing digital technologies, online learning technologies, and the awarded UPT Virtual Campus (https://cv.upt.ro/). Furthermore, she is teaching at Politehnica University Timișoara in the field of multimedia, interactive, and web technologies. Diana Andone is the author of 17 books and 100 research papers, has 11 Best Paper Awards, and coordinated over 30 research and education projects mainly funded by the European Commission.
