The Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology at Politehnica University Timisoara together with the Student League of the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications ( LSFETc ), organized the fourth edition of Electronics Summer University, between August 19 and September 1, 2019. a summer school for 11th grade students, attended by 75 high school students from Romania, from the counties: Alba, Arad, Bistrița, Caraș-Severin, Dolj, Gorj, Hunedoara, Mehedinți, Prahova, Timiș and Valcea.

Electronics Summer University is a project funded by the Competitive Grants Scheme for universities under the ROSE project and aims to promote higher education among 11th grade students from Romanian high schools. The development objectives of the Secondary Education Project / ROSE are to improve the transition from high school to tertiary education and to increase the retention rate in the first year of university studies, in the institutions funded under the project. The ETcTI faculty has won this grant in 2017, to carry out activities for 3 years. This year is the last in which the summer school has benefited from funding through this project.

In the first year of the project 30 students participated. In the second edition (first funded under ROSE), 59 students participated and last year 70. This year, as in previous editions, the 75 high school students had the opportunity to experience for 2 weeks the life of a student. from the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technologies in Timisoara. Throughout the project development period, students have acquired new knowledge, which will prove very useful in the future. Also, they deepened the knowledge acquired in high school and strengthened them, giving them a clearer direction.

The high school students attending Electronics Summer University were housed in the UPT dormitories, providing accommodation, meals, and transportation through the project. During the two weeks, the high school students attended non-formal courses, with an important application component, they visited the Experimentarium TM, the companies from Timisoara, the Career Counseling and Guidance Center of the UPT, they performed sports activities, they took part in personal development trainings, a treasure-hunt (treasure hunt) throughout Timisoara, but also at various social evenings.

Most of the participants come from underprivileged areas, from high schools in the rural area or with low promotability to high school. Of the participants of previous editions, over 50% have become students of Politehnica University Timisoara, and the volunteers of the current edition are participants from previous editions.
