Politehnica University Timișoara has a sports infrastructure unlike any other university in Romania, and Timișoara's sporting identity has been intertwined with Poli for over 100 years. All leaders of Politehnica have supported the sports movement and contributed to the development of the necessary facilities to sustain it. However, "Politehnica of the new century" also involves the maintenance and modernization of this infrastructure, bringing it in line with today's standards.

The Știința Stadium, inaugurated in 1928 as the sports facility of Politehnica, will undergo a complete rehabilitation, including the addition of modern facilities for both athletes and spectators.

The futuristic modernization project for the Știința Stadium, with a budget of 10 million euros, started on January 15, 2024, after the contract was signed in December. The project includes the construction of a grandstand with a capacity of 1,500 seats, a multi-level parking lot with 200 spaces, including 4 spaces for buses and 18 spaces for people with disabilities – the first multi-level parking lot in Timișoara outside shopping centers. It also comprises 2 mini-football fields, changing rooms for athletes and referees, a conference room, a medical office, and a terrace café.

The construction area covers over 5,000 square meters, and the duration of the project is a maximum of 36 months.

The proposed construction is developed between Traian Lalescu Street and the existing football field, in the courtyard of Sports Facility No. 1 of Politehnica University Timișoara. Functionally, the ground floor includes an area for car parking, and the area towards the field will host various facilities serving it: changing rooms, bathrooms, a conference room, and a medical office. There are also technical spaces at the ground floor level. On the first floor, there is another area for car parking, and below the bleachers, there are technical spaces. The second floor includes only parking spaces and the central staircase. The third floor features two sports fields, two changing rooms serving them, and a café with related spaces.

The arena is equipped with an athletics track (tartan), an electronic scoreboard, and lighting facilities.

Extensive modernization works have also begun at Politehnica's Sports Facility No. 2, focusing on the indoor swimming pool, where installations, waterproofing, interior finishes, perimeter water collection systems, synthetic fields, and infrastructure have been renovated. The synthetic carpet has been replaced, markings have been drawn, and in the coming period, the natural grass field, tennis courts, and fencing will undergo modernization.

Regarding the Polyvalent Hall, the technical and economic indicators have been updated, and they will soon be submitted to the Ministry of Education for approval. In the first half of this year, bids will be organized for the remaining work: partial interior finishes and arrangements, completion of interior and exterior installations (partial), and exterior arrangements, including green spaces, parking spaces, and related amenities.
