Fashion collections inspired by the past and accessories made from recycled materials

On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, the Club of the Faculty of Architecture and City Planning within Politehnica University Timișoara hosted a unique fashion show by students as a part of the "Fashion collections inspired by the past and accessories from recycled materials" exhibition.

The event showcased the work of 3rd-year students from the Furniture and Interior Design specialization at the Faculty of Architecture and City Planning within Politehnica University Timișoara for the Clothing Design elective subject.

This year's theme was to design clothing collections that drew inspiration from the past, from any stylistic period studied in the course, using partially or fully recyclable materials. Each student presented a collection of 10 outfits via drawings made using different graphic representation techniques. In addition, during the seminar hours they manufactured one of the 10 outfits for a small wooden mannequin (30 cm) and made a 1:1 real-scale accessory, using as many recyclable materials as possible.

The projects were coordinated by lecturer dr. arch. Anghel Andreea, Ph.D. (teaching staff and graduate of the Faculty of Architecture and City Planning, UPT, class of 2008), with support from Laura Chiriță (clothing designer) during the final seminar session, where the students received practical support and advice.

During the mini-fashion show, the more than 30 participating students presented both their drawings, and the scaled-down outfit, wearing the 1:1 scale accessory. The creativity shown by the students and their work during the 7 weeks, but also their involvement in the organization of the event are noteworthy, especially since the Clothing Design course is elective.
