The opening of the open exhibition "Iosefin Neighbourhood and Valeria dr. Pintea - a novel in an exhibition" took place on Friday, January 31st at the Theresa Bastion and gathered tens of visitors, cultural people, as well as project partners. Timisoara and beyond are invited to continue sharing the stories of the Iosefin neighborhood through mobile applications and the augmented reality digital application and the project site https://spotlight-timisoara.eu/. The project continues with the stories dedicated to the Elisabetin neighborhood, which will be launched in June this year.

Centered around the collected memories of the novel by Valeria dr. Pintea (author: Liana Maria Gomboșiu, Timișoara, Marineasa Publishing House, 2013), the exhibition was visited for almost 3 months by hundreds of Timisoara residents who have been able to relive the Iosefin neighborhood from another time. Besides the finishing of the museum exhibition, the end of the street exhibitions was marked - the 16 significant landmarks in the Iosefin neighborhood, brought back to life with the help of augmented reality applications.

However, the story of the Iosefin neighborhood continues through the digital components of the project - augmented / virtual reality applications and the web page of the project https://spotlight-timisoara.eu/.

Residents and visitors of Timișoara are still invited to tell their stories, of those who have lived or visited the Iosefin neighborhood, memories or events, moments that are part of the lived and unspoken heritage of people and communities, online through Add Your Story https: //spotlight-timisoara.eu/adauga-povestea-ta/

"I thank the colleagues at the Museum and those at UPT for all their efforts. Over the next few years we will try to expand this type of collaboration. Because, as you know and we wish, Politehnica wants to be increasingly involved into the social and cultural life of the city of Timișoara and not just into the technical and sporting life”, confessed assoc. prof. eng. Florin Drăgan, PhD, the elected rector of Politehnica University Timișoara.

"The stories of the Iosefin neighborhood will return in the summer, but you can go to visit the Iosefin neighborhood and tell us your stories through the website and mobile applications", explained Dr. Diana Andone, the initiator of the project "Heritage under the spotlight Timișoara".

The project Heritage under the spotlight Timișoara continues in 2020 through the events scheduled in the stories in the Elisabetin neighborhood (TACTILUL, 2020). The next exhibition within the project "Elisabetin Neighborhood and Netti Diel - a world in a chest" is to be launched in June 2020. This exhibition will continue the series of 3 components: digital, mobile and augmented reality applications, the exhibition in the National Museum of Banat and the street exhibition in the Elisabetin neighborhood. The announcement of the exhibition was also launched on Friday, January 31, by Marius Cornea, curator at the National Museum of Banat.

The heritage under the spotlight tells the many stories of Timișoara through digital technologies, stories of cultural and historical heritage, of technical development, of communities and neighborhoods, interwoven with the personal stories of the inhabitants of the past and present.

The project aims to build multiple layers of personal memories and data from the history of their neighborhoods, communities, ethnicities and inhabitants, digitally presented through intelligent and physical applications in exhibitions.

The stories are: Iosefin (AUZUL, 2019), Elisabetin (TACTILUL, 2020), Fabric (VĂZUL, 2021), the stories of the historical buildings in Timisoara (UPT Rectorate, 2019), Of the public works of art (ArtTM 2018-2022), Of the communities (Jews, 2019), Technical innovations (2020).

The heritage under spotlights Timișoara / Spotlight Heritage Timisoara is produced by Politehnica University Timișoara and the National Museum of Banat in partnership with the Timișoara 2021 European Capital of Culture Association, a cultural project co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Identity, the City Hall of Timișoara, Timiș County Council.
