Mechanical Engineering Students from UPT Win Top Place in a Major Engineering Competition
A team of professors and students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Politehnica University Timisoara recently participated in the final stage of the International Student Competition in Vehicle Engineering "Prof. Eng. Constantin Ghiulai," specifically in the Automotive CAD Catia section, held in Bucharest.
The student competition unfolded across two sections: "Vehicle Dynamics" and "Automotive CAD – CATIA V5." Both sections were individual competitions, and university rankings were established based on the individual results. In the final phase of the 9th edition of the 2023 contest, organized at Politehnica University of Bucharest, 31 students from 11 universities qualified.
The Timisoara team, composed of students Sergiu Faluvegi, 4th year AR (1st Prize in the individual stages), Andrei Nicola, 3rd year AR, and Marian Cristian Mora, 3rd year AR, under the coordination of Assist. Eng. Andrei Tiberiu Borborean, secured the first-place position in the university ranking.
The competition took place under the patronage of the Society of Automotive Engineers in Romania (SIAR), with support from universities offering undergraduate and master's studies in the field of vehicle engineering, as well as contributions from relevant economic agents.
The mission embraced by this competition is to continue the tradition of training future specialists in the field of vehicle engineering and to promote among young students the desire to excel in studying disciplines specific to the field of automotive engineering.
The International Student Competition in Vehicle Engineering "Prof. Eng. Constantin Ghiulai" ran in parallel and under the auspices of the 33rd edition of the International Congress of the Society of Automotive Engineers in Romania (SIAR) - ESFA 2023 (Economics, Safety, and Reliability of Vehicles), organized with the support of Politehnica University of Bucharest.
