It is now a tradition that at the beginning of spring, after the exams have passed, Politehnica University Timișoara Library awards its most active users during an event that celebrates both the institution's anniversary and its readers.

In the opening of the event, the director of the UPT Library, Dr. Eng. Agneta Lovasz, Ph.D., congratulated the winners of the current edition for knowing how to take advantage of all the resources available to them. She also emphasized that today the UPT Library, which has turned 103 since its first attestation, is more than just a simple reading space. It is a place where various events, especially cultural and artistic ones, take place, such as film screenings, musical evenings, various exhibitions, ceremonies, award ceremonies, book launches.

Also present at the event, Prof. Univ. Dr. Eng. Alina Dumitrel, Ph.D., Vice-Rector of Politehnica University Timișoara, congratulated the awarded users on behalf of the university management, highlighting the importance of reading in the development of young people.

The event continued with the awards for the most active readers, who were rewarded not only with diplomas but also with vouchers for purchasing books worth 150, 200, and 250 lei, respectively:

  • 1st Prize - Diana Cornei from the Faculty of Architecture and City Planning and Ioan Muntian from the Faculty of Electrical and Power Engineering;

  • 2nd Prize - Rareș Andrei Vasiu from the Faculty of Automation and Computers;

  • 3rd Prize - Crin Constantin Cosmescu and Ovidiu Simionescu from the Faculty of Automation and Computers, and Raul Bogdan Mircea from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

As part of the UPT Library anniversary, an old friend and collaborator, Raul Rus, the director of the Timișoara branch of the National Archives, presented the exhibition "UPT Library, historical landmarks," with documents from the history of the library.

The festive atmosphere in the UPT Library lobby was created with the support of students from the Faculty of Architecture and City Planning, guided by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arch. Cristina Maria Povian, Ph.D. and Lect. Dr. Arch. Anamaria Anghel, Ph.D., who created an installation with balloons and books to showcase the benefits of reading and how learning helps us grow.

Last but not least, the festive atmosphere was happily complemented by musical recitals performed by the Politehnica University Timișoara choir, as well as by Adina and Sebastian Covaci from the "Ion Vidu" Music High School in Timișoara, with whom the UPT Library has a fruitful collaboration.
