The Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Environmental Engineering of Politehnica University Timișoara hosted the 10th edition of the ”Coriolan Dragulescu" National Chemistry Contest on May 10 - 11, 2019.
The competition, which enjoys a wide popularity among the students interested in chemistry in the 9th - 12th grade, brought together 111 pupils from the western part of the country who came to Timisoara accompanied by the teachers with whom they did the training.
The contest builds a competitive framework in which participants test their logical- chemical thinking and evaluate their acquired skills. Competitors who have shown their best results from theoretical evidence have been rewarded with prizes. Besides the competitive component of the event, there was also an instructive component whose role was to provide a clearer and as complete picture as possible of what is done in the vast fields of chemistry.
Students who entered the competition have had the opportunity of evaluating their knowledge in chemistry and to find out the level of performance they are situated at, for future local, county or national competitions or in terms of building a career in the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, food engineering, medicine, dental medicine and pharmacy, materials engineering. Last but not least, the contest is also useful for preparing the baccalaureate exam.
During the visit to Timişoara, the students participating in the competition were acquainted with the infrastructure and facilities of Politehnica University Timișoara, attended the presentation of the study programs provided by the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, as well as the professional career perspectives.
The awarded students (places I, II, III) will benefit from admission without a competition, if they will opt for specializations from the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, 700 lei merit scholarships and they will be accommodated in rooms of two individuals.
