The woman ... on the path of science

The event was held in honor of the International Day of Women's Rights

The Francophone lectorate of Politehnica University Timișoara, in collaboration with the Central Library of UPT, organized on Thursday, March 5, 2020, at BCUPT, the event with the theme "Scientifique? Pourquoi pas moi?” ("Woman in science? Why not me?"). During it, there were meetings of high school students with students from technical specializations from Politehnica University Timișoara and with women engineers from companies in Timisoara.

The event aims to promote the technical fields among young women and to arrange meetings with women engineers who could become models and students to explain what it means to study technical and scientific fields at the Timisoara Polytechnic.

At the opening of the event, there were games to help the participants get to know each other and to reflect, from the perspective of different generations, on the place of women in the technical fields, discussing, on this occasion, various stereotypes and prejudices, but also overcoming barriers regarding the place of women in society. Subsequently, information exchanges took place in the form of "speed meetings", through which the students learned details about the choices they can make, the career paths and the experiences of those older than them, the right time for choosing a career, etc.

The event was held in honor of the International Day of Women's Rights (March 8) and was organized in partnership with the University Agency of Francophonie (AUF) and the Elles Bougent Association.
