VisionX, the team of four students from the Faculty of Automation and Computing within Politehnica University Timişoara (Ştefan Iarca, Bogdan Bercean, Cristian Avramescu, Andrei Tenescu), who at the end of February 2018 won the Big Prize of the Big Idea Challenge competition organized by Microsoft, worth $ 3,000, goes on to the $ 100,000 prize of the Imagine Cup Global Competition 2018, also organized by Microsoft.

If at the Big Idea Challenge they won the Grand Prize by presenting their idea of ​​business and project, they have now put the project into practice and enrolled it in the national stage of the Imagine Cup Global Competition 2018.

Practically, the system created by the UPT students analyzes the radiographs using artificial intelligence, compares them with about 200,000 others found in the database, and based on an algorithm created by the VisionX team, it provides a diagnosis. In other words, they created an application in which one introduces the X-ray in electronic format, it is analyzed using artificial intelligence algorithms created by them, and the result is automatically displayed as a possible list of diagnoses, each with the probability of being the real one, and a map of anomalies.

Currently, only pulmonary radiographs can be analyzed, but the team is working to create algorithms for all areas of the body.

Winning the Imagine Cup national phase at Microsoft, the VisionX team will take part in the Central and Eastern European phase, where the first four teams qualify for the world stage, where the grand prize is worth $ 100,000.
Meanwhile, the team won the Morpheus Cup Trophy, which took place in Paris (a $ 1,000 voucher), and in Budapest, the Startup Campus Innovative Idea Battle, where they won the "ticket" for the Pioneers Conference in Vienna, where innovative startups come from all over the world.
