Politehnica University of Timișoara (UPT) publishes an Annual Sustainability and Environmental Performance Report in accordance with the requirements established by the Government Decision (HG) no. 709/2025, published in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part I, no. 812/2 September 2025.

According to this regulation, all public authorities and institutions are legally required to prepare and transmit annually, by 31 January, a Report on Environmental Performance to the Ministry of Environment, Waters, and Forests, through the National Agency for Environment and Protected Areas.

The UPT report follows the National Program on Environmental Performance of Public Institutions, which integrates OECD recommendations and EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) principles. It includes measurable indicators on:

  • Energy and water consumption;

  • Renewable energy and energy efficiency measures;

  • Waste reduction, recycling, and green procurement;

  • Paper consumption and digitalization;

  • Carbon footprint from travel;

  • Proportion of online meetings/events.

The report also details the university’s internal monitoring system, responsible departments, annual performance evaluation, and continuous improvement actions toward climate neutrality and sustainable operations.

UPT’s 2025 Environmental Performance Report establishes baselines for the implementation of national targets (2036 horizon) and aligns with the university’s Strategic Plan 2024–2029, which designates sustainability as a core development pillar.

Reporting Frequency

Annual — reports are submitted by 31 January each year to the Ministry of Environment.

The report will be uploaded on 31 January 2026.
